New Hampshire

Welcome to New Hampshire - known for their slogan live free or die, having the highest mountain peak in the northeast, and like most of New England, of course the fall foliage.

The two most popular areas of New Hampshire are the White Mountains and the whopping 13 miles of coastline. Peak season is still considered fall but you can find this small state busy from summer to winter with all it's outdoor activities!

Fun facts:

  • New Hampshire has 4 different nicknames. The Granite state – due to their extensive granite quarries, Mother of Rivers – since five large rivers originate from their mountains, the White Mountain State – for their mountain range (called the White Mountains so not the most original nickname), and Switzerland of America – for their beautiful mountain scenery (In my opinion this one is a bit of stretch. Still gorgeous but Switzerland gorgeous? I guess I’ll have to catch a flight and compare..)
  • New Hampshire was the first state to have a constitution. It was ratified in 1776, eight years before the US constitution. This certainly sparks Nick Cage’s interest, but I think it would be interesting to compare the two to see the differences!
  • Mount Washington is one of the windiest places on earth. On April 12, 1934 a wind speed of 231 miles per hour was recorded. This record was Only topped by an Australian typhoon by 22 mph and is the highest measured wind speed not associated with a tornado/tropical storm.
