Delaware
Welcome to Delaware - known for their beaches, no sales tax and being sandwiched between Philly and Baltimore.
Delaware is known as the "first state" since they were the first state to ratify the US constitution. It is also the home to my favorite hot dog stand, The Dog House.
Fun facts:
- Delaware has the largest population of horseshoe crabs in the world! Horseshoe crabs are old. I mean like really old..like 200 million years older than dinosaurs. They sometimes wash up on the beach and look like little tanks with a tail that looks similar to a stingray – though they don’t sting. They only use it to flip themselves back around if they get knocked over by a wave.
- There are 200 times more chickens than people in Delaware…and just for fun there are 46 Royal Farms, 15 Chick-fil-a’s, 13 Popeyes, 11 KFC’s and 1 Raising Cane’s. Totaling 86 chicken based chains in the small state.
- Delaware has the largest banana port in the US and the second largest in the world! Roughly one million tons of bananas a year are shipped and handled here!
