Minnesota
Welcome to Minnesota - known for ice fishing, cross country skiing, and the large spoon with a cherry on top in the center of Minneapolis.
The biggest let down I had visiting the state was when I found out that Minnesota calls their bubbly beverage "pop" instead of soda. We were literally taught in school the line "I went to Minnesota to have a mini soda".
Fun facts:
- Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes – but actually has even more than they boast, wracking in about 14,000 named lakes.
- Minnesota is home to the Spam Museum. Spam, the canned meat product, was invented in 1937 in Austin, Minnesota. Love it or hate it, I think something can be found for everyone at the Spam Museum. Here you can find the history, free samples, recipes from all over the world, and of course, merch! When I first visited the museum, I swore up and down that I hated the stuff..then I actually tried it..and I was sold! I highly highly recommend this museum for a visit!
- Home to the Mall of America, which is America’s largest shopping mall. The mall is 5.6 million square feet. To put that in perspective, it is large enough to hold 32 grounded Boeing 747 airplanes.
