Punta Arenas Street Art

Chile art South America

Punta Arenas is a very colorful city filled with streets lined with beautiful murals and paintings. I did not have time to do a full street photography walk while I was there but still managed to get in a few shots of paintings, posters and signs that caught my eye. On my way back through, since this is the port on my way to and from Antarctica, I would love to do a more thorough walk through of the city just to see what I’ll find!

Above and below were little pockets of art as I wondered down the shore line of Punta Arenas. There’s a great walking path that’s fun to explore that heads out in both directions from the center of town.

Hands down, my favorite mural from the city was this clown one for a part store. The vibrant colors combined with my love of clowns made it easily my number 1.

My favorite bar in the city had some very large paintings that I really enjoyed. During my stay, I did not know the actual name of the bar but instead just called it the upstairs bar – because not so shockingly, it was located upstairs. But the actual name of the bar is Ole Tapas & Copas. The vibes in there were perfect each time we went and I can easily see myself stopping in for a visit anytime I’m in the area.

I always love finding splashes of color, hidden pieces of street are and fun signs in a new place. I mean, who wouldn’t love a sign that features a fish drinking? Maybe that fish just wants to unwind after a long day of work or maybe it’s a warning to not give a fish a drink because they have a problem. I might never know because I struggle at translating Spanish. (Something I’m working on but it’s going to take a lot of work).

I’m also just in love with this seal sign of all the Antarctica seals. I would love to buy one and hang it up but sadly I didn’t see any for sale. My favorites are the elephant seal (because they are my favorite animals) and the leopard seal (because that’s the best drawing of a lepard seal I have ever seen). I am also obsessed with this balloon kiosk that I saw in the mall. I didn’t need a balloon but if I did, I would 100% be stopping here.

I am super excited to just explore some more of Punta Arenas when I return from Antarctica. There’s a few museums and cemeteries that are on my radar to check out in addition to the street art and architecture that I missed!
